At curriculum night, sophomore year, we learned that the chemistry course taught at our school (a top-tier private prep school) would not cover everything on the SAT subject test. (This is not unusual--most high school science courses do not cover everything on the subject tests.) Alison O'Connor came highly recommended by our school and she exceeded all our expectations. Alison filled in the gaps in the school syllabus, deciphered the tough problems, taught our daughter test-taking strategies, and encouraged her to take multiple practice tests. Our daughter worked with Alison for four months and she was able to score a 750 on the subject test. It is true that practice makes perfect, but there was no way our daughter would have put in the work needed to achieve such a high score if she were not working with Alison. The strategies she learned with Alison and the confidence she gained through her chemistry subject test transferred to help her with the regular SAT (top score 2370).
